The 2025 eel-fry fishing season in Taiwan will end on February 28, and last week's catch continued to be low. Japan's eel fry catch has been in a slump since the early to middle of this month, with major fishing areas already closed or suspended, and a severe cold wave has weakened the momentum of the fishing season, with Hikozaki Prefecture ending the annual eel fry fishing on February 7. Since the beginning of this year, the main fishing areas in Chinese Mainland have expanded from the early southern Guangdong to Fujian and Zhejiang, and extended northward to Shanghai and Jiangsu. The daily fishing volume has been steadily increasing in the last week.

According to the statistics and estimates of "Japan Aquaculture News", the total amount of eel fry caught in East Asia was 50,700 to 55,800 kilograms until February 14th 2025. Among them, the cumulative catch of eel fry in Chinese Mainland is 36000-41000kg, Taiwan is 5700-5800kg, and Japanese is 9000kg.
